Great Whites of Guadalupe Island

With world-renowned shark experts Chris and Monique Fallows

Join Avontuur Luxury Travel on a once in lifetime adrenaline-filled journey to the crystal clear waters of the Pacific as we enter the realm of the ultimate apex predator with specialist guides Chris and Monique Fallows.

“Some refer to these waters as being like Jurassic Park, but it’s better than that!” ~PF

Surface supplied air allows us to welcome both certified and non-certified divers with visibility often 100+ ft.

Breathtaking Scenery Abounds.

Two privately chartered, Avontuur exclusive use vessels for near unlimited diving. Cages will be dropped at first light and remain in the water all day until sunset.

Our two separate escorted group departures will travel in October when the “Big Mommas” arrive, massive females dominating other sharks in breeding grounds.

Guadalupe is home to at least 366 individually identified sharks, one of the healthiest populations anywhere in the world.

Certified divers will have the option of adding a Self Propelled Ocean Cage (SPOC) excursion.

Designed for research purposes, SPOC is one of the only such research vehicles to be approved for commercial use, allowing our guests an unparalleled Great White Experience.

SPOC holds a pilot in the back and diver in the front with a cruising speed of 5 knots.

The cruising speed allows you to keep up with the pace of a great white which would otherwise be impossible whether swimming or diving.

“I’m thrilled to be able to offer Avontuur guests the opportunity to travel with Chris and Monique, two of the most knowledgeable and accomplished individuals in their field. Their experience, insight and photographic guidance ensure our guests will be able to make the very most out of their time in the deep blue.” ~Michael Distler, CEO of Avontuur Travel

Specialist Guides: Chris and Monique Fallows bring a lifetime of experience with them as they return to Guadalupe Island. Chris was the first person to discover and photograph the now famous breaching behavior of Great Whites in South Africa. These experiences bridged the gap between wildlife naturalist to dedicated photographer intent on capturing never before seen behavior in order to showcase and bring it to the world. This discovery gave birth to the most successful Shark Week series, the “Air Jaws” franchise which prominently features Fallows .

Their work has been featured on the covers and within many of the world’s most famous publications from the New York & Los Angeles Times, BBC Wildlife, Time Magazine and National Geographic.

Planet Earth, Life, Africa and Shark for the BBC add to an already impressive resume that includes 18 years worth of filming for Shark Week.
